Sherwood Valley Housing Cooperative Corporation, a 171-home resident owned community in Coventry, R.I., debuted its marketing website this week.

Sherwood Valley, which opened in 1982 and became a ROC in early 2018, is close to Route 3 and Interstate 95 for easy access to the surrounding area. The outdoor amenities that residents have to choose from are robust no matter what the season.

The Board of Directors work with Thomas Choate of Cooperative Development Institute, the ROC USA Certified Technical Assistance Provider in Rhode Island.

Audrey Pickering, president of the Sherwood Valley Board, said that she’s excited for the website to help increase accessibility and communication for community members.

“I’m just tickled pink,” she said.

The site features the community’s back story, application info, frequently asked questions for interested homeowners and more.

Sherwood’s is the first site to feature a self-service home listing capability. The service is open to anyone living in Sherwood when they decide to move.

“It’s a slick and easy-to-use application,” said Mike Bullard, ROC USA’s communications and marketing manager. “Residents can list their home for sale with photos and custom descriptions and post links across social media. It’s free and simple thanks to a step-by-step listing form.”

Sherwood Valley community is the first in Rhode Island in the ROC USA network.

ROC USA has built more than 50 marketing websites for ROCs all across the country. The sites serve as a thorough online real estate brochure designed to attract new members to either homes for sale of vacant sites. The service is part of the ROC Marketing Program and is free to ROCs that formed since ROC USA’s launch in 2008. Older ROCs can contract for a similar site for a fee.
