Michael Sloss

Managing Director, ROC USA Capital

Michael Sloss has been the Managing Director of ROC USA Capital since ROC USA’s inception in 2008. For the past 14 years, he has overseen ROC USA Capital’s growth as a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and oversees all loan origination, portfolio management and capitalization activities undertaken by a full-time staff of six.

Under Michael’s leadership, ROC USA Capital has grown to serve more than 9,000 lower-income homeowners living in more than 110 ROCs across 17 states with their community acquisition, improvement, and pre-development borrowing needs. Today, ROC USA Capital’s outstanding loan portfolio is approaching $300 million.

Prior to joining ROC USA Capital, Michael spent nine years at Enterprise Community Loan Fund, a national affordable housing CDFI where he served as vice president for product innovation and helped structure city-specific affordable housing preservation funds between $20 million and $100 million for Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles. He has also worked for The Harrison Institute of Public Law of Georgetown University Law Center and for the Maryland Community Development Administration, the state’s housing finance agency. Prior to his employment at The Harrison Institute of Public Law of Georgetown University and during his employment there, he focused his work on resident ownership of all types of affordable housing both nationally and in Washington, D.C.

Michael graduated from Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass., with a bachelor’s degree in urban studies. He is a certified housing counselor and a certified community development lender.

Outside of ROC USA, Michael enjoys skiing, hiking, biking and listening to jazz and bluegrass music.

He lives outside Washington, D.C.
