Good Day To All,
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I wanted to share a few pictures with all of you from our Annual Meeting we had this past Saturday. Wow what a great time we all had and even a bigger wow for the special guest we were able have attend.
It was so amazing that we were able to share our meeting with the folks from InSiteInformation and more. Others who came were Scott Hickok, the Community Development Director for Fridley, Lona Schreiber and her husband from the Metropolitan Council who was kind enough to give us the $80,000+ for the sewer project, U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison and his field staffer Matt Croaston, and Minnesota Sen. Barb Goodwin.
We had a good show of residents and a full board. Oh and don’t forget our Onsite Manger Nancy Stock. From Northcountry Cooperative Foundation we had Kevin Walker and Tom Guettler.
We started off with an icebreaker so that we were able to have residents tell how many years they have lived in our community and their names. It was pretty fun. Pat Streeter headed that one and she did a great job. (Speaking in front of people is somewhat new for her, but she totally ROCked!)
We did our board seat elections and with that added a new board member so we now have 6 board members. We even added one more new member to the list who finally said yes she would become a member and has lived in the community for more than 30 years.
We tabled the new and old park rule changes to which we will hold a special member meeting for that in the near future. Tom went over the budget and the wonderful thank you to the board.
We gave away 6 raffle bags and 2 one-month-free- rent for the month of December.
Kevin was kind enough to handle all the introductions of the special guests. All the guests had very wonderful and kind things to say and stayed after to spend time with all the residents. We served a fun lunch and ended the day with lots of hugs and big thank you to all.
I am still so in a cloud over how fast things are taking flight so to speak with new contacts and what they would like to help us with. Lona from the Met Council kept saying it wasn’t that much money but I told her it was and we couldn’t have done our project without it. Her husband gave me a huge hug and a handshake and praised us for having such a great board filled with women who were showing that we too can do big things. Bill from InSiteInformation has a huge amount of great ideas and has pulled together a team of others who want to jump on board to help with finding ways to make our community even better in many ways.
We heard from a guest that this was the best board meeting they had been to in a very long time. Funny that some of that came from our Senator, who is also part of a townhouse association.
We thank you for all that you have done for us and will continue to do for us. Great things are going to happen at Park Plaza Cooperative that will help others all over as well. My heart is even more full with the kindness we were shown this weekend. I so wish you all had been a part of it.
I hope you enjoy the few pictures I was able to get without crying so much.
Have a wonderful rest of the week.
Natividad
