High school honors ROC Member’s WWII service

By Mike Bullard December 6, 2016

An 89-year-old World War II veteran and resident of a New York ROC was honored recently by a local high school more than six decades after he left to fight overseas.

Lionel “Pete” Reader served in the Army and was injured during the Normandy invasion. He was never able to graduate.

Reader is a 30-year resident of Marilla Country Village, a 145-site community outside Buffalo, N.Y., and a resident-owned community since 2011. Marilla Board Members Dennis Jakubowski and Jay Marble sent along new coverage of Alden High School presenting Reader with an honorary diploma.
