Your ‘Why’ Matters – Run for the New England ROC Association Director Seat!
When I first became a leader, like many of you can relate to, I had many thoughts on how I could take our community to new heights as a ROC.
I think we often become a ROC, or move into an existing ROC, thinking that the culture of community will already be there waiting for us. I soon learned that is not always the case. Leaders must create a culture of community – this is a part of developing as a leader. Members must be able to identify with you and why you do what you do for the communities. Why it is important to you.
I have said it many times, your members and even other leaders do not care so much about what you do as why you do it. Your “why” is an incredibly big influence out there to those who are new to our mission.
With a ROC Association Director seat opening soon in the New England district, I wanted to reach out to each of you and encourage you to run for this position. There are a great many members and leaders out there that would be a huge asset to the Association.
As a ROC Association Director, I want to see the next person to take that seat succeed. I can guarantee each of you I have made mistakes, we all do. I have grown and developed into the leader I knew I could be. I have made so many very valuable relationships, met so many great people, traveled to so many great places. I am so glad that I don’t have to look back and think, “I sure wish I would have run for that positon I wanted with ROC Association. I really missed out on a great opportunity!”
If you want to be the next ROC Association Director step up and make your intentions known. Let’s see your name on that ballot!
ROC On,
Lorie Cahill
