After more than four years of struggle, the homeowners at the 90-site Trailer Terrace MHC just outside Great Falls, Mont., have become the owners of their community. The closing started Tuesday and was completed Wednesday.
Through threatened foreclosure, multiple managers and receivership, well water that is not safe to drink and a failing lagoon septic system, Trailer Terrace Community, Inc., with the rock solid assistance of Sheila Rice and the NeighborWorks® Montana team, persevered when many others likely would have quit.
There is a long way to go to make new well and septic systems operational, likely two to three years more work and about $2.7 million of committed public investment for on-site infrastructure improvements. Trailer Terrace Community, Inc. and its new management team is ready to put in place the policies and procedures for pro-active and sustainable community management.
The local newspaper, the Great Falls Tribune, covered the purchase in the paper Wednesday with several interviews, photos and videos.
Congratulations to all the homeowners and everyone at NeighborWorks Montana on a terrific purchase!
