Happy New Year!

I hope your Holiday season was everything you wanted it to be. For me, a break with my family was in order and a lot of fun! Christmas was very touching this year; we’re in a good place as a family.

We also got away for a day of skiing in on Friday and hope to again on Monday night. I’ve not been outside nearly enough lately but (almost) daily walks are improving my indoor/outdoor ratio!

That’s all important stuff because, as you may have noticed from the gap in my Blog posts, I’ve been otherwise focused. Frankly, it’s been a wild month for me personally.

On Thanksgiving, we received a Request for Proposals from the JPMorgan Chase Foundation with a deadline of Dec. 10. (That’s short notice!) Still, we were perfect for it! So, we took the application head on!

This goes in the category of unexpected workload. I pushed off everything I could and worked weekends. (Watch myROCUSA.org News in the coming weeks for a press release!)

The application was immediately followed by preparation for our Board meeting on Dec. 18 in D.C. The ROC Association Directors met, too, and the three Directors also went to AARP’s offices to do some filming. We’ll post their videos as soon as AARP has them ready. (AARP Foundation is a lender to ROC USA Capital and wanted the ROC leaders’ personal stories for their web site.)

From there, it was straight into Christmas and a break with my family who had seen little of me since Thanksgiving. We’re good and they understand that when responsibility calls, I need to answer. “To whom much is given, much is expected.”

I hope your 2014 will be a year of positive growth and opportunity.
